NEWS       WORKS       BIO       CONTACT punch&judy performance approx. 45 min. This body of work consists of a series of performances. Punch and Judy is a traditional, popular puppet show featuring the characters of Mr. Punch and his wife, Judy. The show consists of a sequence of short scenes, each depicting an interaction between two characters. The various scenes are performed in the subversive spirit of outrageous comedy - often provoking shocked laughter. An important part of the performances is that Punch and Judy defy and overcome the frustrations people feel as represented by their opponents. The performance series reinterprets this traditional puppet show and makes use of the esthetics of the ridiculous.
